Day 113 June 13, 2010

Yeah, you're right hummingbirds are addictive. But then they are so cute. The range of sounds is amazing. Besides the whir of speedy wings there is the clicking and the shriek.
The second photo of this group is a favorite. Not only are the flowers bright and gracefully suspended but the bird is poised just so considering which blossom to taste next. This plump little guy was so curious. Unlike the others he likes the flowers and has yet to try the nectar.

It is harder to see the hum-
ming-
bird in the last three photos but they are inter-
esting catches. The best pose is the last with his beak probing into the fuchsia blossom.

Day 111 June 11, 2010

These hummingbirds just love my friend's flowers! One of them is a chubby baby with downy looking feathers. It is a little hard to tell in these photos which is the newbie but he is tubby and the adults are quite slander. The picture of them playing in the air didn't quite turn out but it is so darn interesting it may get posted tomorrow with more hummer pictures.

Day 110 June 10, 2010

In the spring the colorful hanging flower pots are just irresistible!

Day 109 June 9, 2010

Yes, this is a very boring photo. The intent was to take the fireplace to help with picking out a clock for the mantel. The perspective is very strong and the photographer was listing!

Day 108 June 8, 2010

Peonys are so beautiful. This one was taken at night in the wind and the rain.

Day 107 June 7, 2010

A piece of art from a rather ordinary beginning. Still searching for the right effect.

Day 106 June 6, 2010

A reprieve in the rain and out for a late afternoon walk found these two beauties. The first is a peony that is making a dramatic and very slow entrance. It's ok: it is the only bud in the lot!
The second picture is of a very common flower with velvet greenery. What is it?

Day 105 June 5, 2010

Who
doesn't love a parade? Certainly this guy was enjoying it. But then he had a Bloody Mary in his hand!

This parade in Gig Harbor had a bit of everything: Renaissance Faire characters, Pixar characters, Pirates, school kids, you name it, they were in this parade.

The funniest food sign was this one offering Korean Tacos: really? Do you want that with tofu and kimchee? Yum!

Day 104 June 4, 2010

Ah, yellow! Absolutely the color of spring itself: cheerful and happy. Makes you feel good just to look at it. This is especially true of the iris with all it's frilly decadence is a little silly but beautiful in any color! You feel happy just looking at them and that is a pretty good trait in a flower.

Day 103 June 3, 2010

These children were watching some Pacific Island dancing. They were nearly all intent on the dancing. Don't you wonder what the one little girl has her attention on? She has such an interesting face all the time!

Day 102 June 2, 2010

This photo is un-
touched as might
be guessed. The
Life Skills students
had their Special
Olympics today.
Look what they
brought home with
them! Everyone got soaked in the dramatic rain dousings we got
today. But nothing dampened their
spirits! The kids took naps later: the adults had to prop open their eyes for the rest of the day! What a happy, jubilant
bunch!

This Olympus took pictures with a disappointing amount of noise today. This is a student who was given a Smartpen as the result of a grant and he is using it here. Proof positive it isn't too smart for a 5th grader to use! Three of my kiddos got them and all are totally thrilled. One makes his own money and already has his eye on buying his own from Target as he loses this one back to me in a couple of weeks. We think it just might be the motivational tool that will be a turning point for him!
YEAH!

Day 101 June 1, 2010

Amazingly the iris are blooming without having had any en-
courage-
ment what so ever. This dark beauty was a surprise and the third color to emerge. Most likely this will be the extent of the color range unless something deliberate is done. Knowing the gardener, chances are unlikely! Below in a little brighter light the flower really shines and reveals more gradients of color.
Fabulous!
