 Kitchen Still Life

Knives' Keepers

Sunday, June 10, 2012
One of my groups is working their way pictorially through the alphabet. This month is the letter 'k' and I have been wracking my brain for something clever. Failing cleverness, I resorted to the utilitarian in the kitchen!

A wren happily singing in the bush. Was pleased to get a nice catch light in his eye.

There was
serenity at
the pond,
until...
with a great
deal of
swalking and

splashing...they didn't manage to drown the third one but it didn't seem to be for lack of trying!
Then later,
gossiping
about it

February 10, 2012

Another wet day means uninspired snapping. Still, the clarity is a nice surprise with this lens. Can't wait to get the chance to really see what it can do. For so much weight the OS works really really well!

February 9, 2012

Older iterations of the new lens had a problem with the auto focus motor quitting soon after purchase. Unfortunately those reporting the issue had it happen while on the trip for which they made the purchase. To keep this from happening here the plan is to take quite a few pictures everyday until satisfied it isn't a problem. Those events were over a year ago so am guessing Sigma has fixed it.  Consequently not all will be what I may hope for: for several days it rained so hard I took pictures inside here! Those won't be published.  Here, instead is one on a good day.

The new lens arrived today. Unfortunately it was raining and being unprepared for wet weather the first shots were taken from the out the back door. Happily I am not responsibile for either of these roofs but thought they made interesting subjects. These are the raw photos (not to be confused with RAW files); I am quite happy with the results.
